1925-1944 the company takes the first steps as a steel trader and producer of cold drawing material under the name of “Società Commercio Ferro”

1944-1950 after the war, R.E.F.I.T. (Rappresentanze E Forniture Industriali Torino) is born on the idea of recycling the steel hulls of sunk vessels in Genova port.

1950-1964 The steel scraps are sold to the most important steel mills of that time to produce rebars and profiles. Given these strong commercial relations, R.E.F.I.T began to stock and sell steel products first on local and then on national market.


1964-1975 R.E.F.I.T. grows in various integrated companies and expands the business in Italy and Europe thanks to several steel production units (Italy, Brazil)


1970 In 1970 R.E.F.I.T. export department is hived off, and takes the name of S.A.F.E.T. (Società Approvigionamenti e Forniture Estere Torino), operating specifically on the markets of North Africa, Middle-East and Far-East, while Mecsider, the other “showpiece” of the Group, addresses itself to the European markets: France, Benelux, Monaco, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

1970-2011 after forty years, Safet is based on the commitment of the third generation of management. The Group is currently represented in 14 Countries, where it is active also through local companies – Armacier, Technoacier, Refit-Algeria, Safet Libya.
